Meet Sara Rubio!
Sara grew up in New Madrid, Missouri. She is the oldest of three girls. She and her family moved to Loranger when she was 11 years old to assist her family with Lighthouse Ranch for Boys. She graduated from Loranger High School in 2010, then attended Louisiana State University for 2 years. She then earned her LPN license from Northshore Technical College. She works part time for PAM Specialty Hospital as a Navigator.
She met her husband, Saul, at La Carretta. They married in 2022, and have two children, Madison (4) and Nicolas (1). Sara also has two step-children, Lilliana and Jonah. They also have Luna, a 5 year old Doberman.
We want to thank Sara for spending some time with us and letting us get to know about her life and her love of the area.
Q: What led you to your current career?
A: My Mom is a nurse, and I watched her enjoy her job. She cared for her patients, and I remember helping her make Thanksgiving meals for her patients. I wanted to be that for others.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in the area, and what do you like to get there?
A: La Carreta! I loved it before I met Saul. I always order the tamales.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
A: Morocco! I want to experience the culture, food. It seems so different.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: My favorite movie is Walk the Line.
Q: What is the first concert you remember attending?
A: The first concert I saw was Usher in New Orleans with my then-boyfriend.
Q: Do you have a favorite book? What do you love about it?
A: When I was a kid, I loved reading the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. They were so sweet.
Q: What advice would you give to a group of people?
A: I would tell anyone: if you are going to do something, always do your very best.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: I would like to go to Dubai. Also, experience Formula 1 with just Saul.
Q: What is your favorite music or an artist/band that you would like to see (dead or alive)?
A: I love country music. I would like to see Lainey Wilson perform.
Q: What current or former business makes you the most nostalgic about the area?
A: Jeanie's-It's all Good! She is the sweetest person. She is a great representation of a southern lady.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique that you love about the area?
A: I love the small community. Everyone knows and supports each other.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: Taking a bigger role with our business. Our kids will be older, all the things.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you (even friends or family)?
A: My birthday is on Cinco de Mayo!
Q: What is a word or phrase that comes to mind when you think of the word “Home”?
A: Where the heart is.
Q: If you could have a full-time staff member that is fully paid for, what would that be? (Chef, housekeeper, driver, coach, personal trainer, etc.)
A: A nanny!
Q: If you had to choose one type of cuisine to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: It has to be Mexican.
Q: What do you do when you are alone in your car?
A: Listen to music.
Q: What is the last gift you gave and received?
A: The last gift I gave was tennis shoes for my godchild. The last gift I received was a pair of shoes from Saul.
Q: What are you known for?
A: I have been told that I am sweet.
Q: What is your favorite 2000s jam?
A: Let it Burn by Usher.
Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
A: Lightning speed, be able to turn it on and off.
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: I play tennis, pilates and travel.
Q: What is your most commonly used emoji?
A: The pink heart.
Q: What are you the most proud of?
A: My kids and Saul.
Q: What two items would you take with you if you were shipwrecked on a deserted island where food and water were taken care of?
A: A hat and sunscreen.
Q: If you won the lottery, what would be the first things you would purchase or spend money on?
A: I would buy a Mom a house, find abused children and give and expand the business.
Q: What do you want your legacy to be?
A: That I was kind, thoughtful and giving to people.
